The U.S. Womens Football Dynasty Ended in Injury Troubles and Lineup Faults
The U.S. Womens National Team (USWNT) had been a dominant force in the world of football for decades, winning four World Cup titles and three Olympic gold medals since 1991. However, their reign of dominance came to an abrupt end at the 2019 FIFA Womens World Cup in France, where they were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Sweden. The USWNTs failure to reach the final was due to a combination of injury troubles and lineup faults that ultimately cost them the tournament.
Injuries played a major role in the USWNTs downfall at the 2019 World Cup. Star forward Alex Morgan was hampered by a hamstring injury throughout the tournament, while defender Kelley OHara suffered an ankle injury during their group stage match against Chile that kept her out for the remainder of the tournament. These injuries forced head coach Jill Ellis to make changes to her starting lineup, which disrupted team chemistry and caused them to struggle against Sweden in their quarterfinal match.
In addition to injuries, Ellis also made some questionable decisions when it came to her lineup choices for certain matches. She opted to start midfielder Lindsey Horan over forward Megan Rapinoe in their group stage match against Thailand, which resulted in a lackluster performance from Horan and an uninspiring 2-0 victory for the USWNT. Ellis also chose not to start Rapinoe or Morgan against Sweden, which proved costly as they were unable to break down Swedens defense and eventually lost 2-1 after extra time.
The USWNTs failure at this years World Cup is a stark reminder that even the most successful teams can be vulnerable if they are not prepared properly or make poor decisions when it comes to their lineup choices and player management. The USWNT will now have to regroup and rebuild if they are going to reclaim their place as one of the worlds top football teams once again.
她選擇開始中衛琳迪·霍朗 (Lindsey Horan )而不是前面佩量·雷皮诺 (Megan Rapinoe ) 在他們與泰國之間的小組階段 比 賽 (group stage match ) 中 (which resulted in a lackluster performance from Horan and an uninspiring 2-0 victory for the USWNT ) (which proved costly as they were unable to break down Swedens defense and eventually lost 2-1 after extra time ) 造成Horan表 現乏 力 和 美 國 女 足2-0勝出但不太令人興奮 。Ellis也選 擇不 讓Rapinoe或Morgan 面 對 瑞 典 時出 球 (start Rapinoe or Morgan against Sweden
Browns trade for Dustin Hopkins, waive Cade York
Great move by the Browns to secure a reliable kicker in Hopkins. Excited to see how he performs for the team this season. #GoBrowns
